At the begining of 1991 Lise left CORSO COMO and was a founding partner of CACTUS & ROSE. C & R's core business was as a design consultancy studio serving the Italian fashion manufacturing industry. From Pret to Product! Lise maintained her contact with Romeo and contracted out to TAKASHIMAYA in Tokyo to supervise and coordinate the launch of the G-Gigli diffusion line in Asia. In 1993 C & R presented their first collection of handpainted and lace patchwork shirts and shoes. An important part of the ethos of the CACTUS & ROSE collection and presentations was the collaboration with different audio and visual artists from season to season. The collections were launched during the Milan Fashion Week and immediately became a 'cult' event - the first party taking place at the Russian restaurant Yar. International press and buyers were impressed and within the first year these wearable pieces of art/fashion were hanging alongside Miyakes and Yamamotos, selling in London, Milan, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and New York. In 1995 the label sadly folded due to commercial pressures of production over ruling creative desires. Both partners decided to call it quits and pursue their individual paths. In Lise's case this meant moving to live in London. |
